I'm something of an artist.
Name: Desiree Dawn Kapler
Craft: The world of art.
Occupation: Freelance Artist and Student at Ole Miss
I was first engulfed in the arts during my young childhood, while I suffered from Ewing's Sarcoma. My mother, an artist herself, encouraged me to express myself through a creation. Through drawing. Coloring. Painting. Writing. I couldn't go outside and play like normal kids, so I composed a visual playground for myself. When I was 7 years old, I went into full remission.
After being told that I was dying, it was time to start living. All I want in life is to inspire and evoke creativity in others. I want the world to be filled with passion. I've been the artistic child from the moment I was born, to the moment I got my first camera, a Polaroid, when I was 8, to now. I'm living my dream of being an artist and encouraging others to do the same.
My grandfather, Donn Renn, was a photographer for National Geographic and worked on every major television network across the globe during his career. He won the Gold Venus Award at the Virgin Islands International Film Festival in 1975 for his ecology film Cries. He is known for his work on the Flipper series, the original James Bond, and photographing and living with the Maasai tribe in Africa, among many other accomplishments. He passed his passion on to my mother, a painter, who passed her genes and passion on to me.
There is a world out there that I am begging to see.
See the world.
Feel the world.
Live your dreams.
Embrace them.
Here I have selected a few photographs for you to view. Please visit and "like" my facebook page for up-to-date information about what I'm doing! You can find a very extensive portfolio in the albums on facebook. :)
Art is not just my career path... It's my way of life! I truly enjoy every last bit of what I do, and I would love to work with you! I love themes, silliness, seriousness, traditional, and nontraditional! Endless possibilities!
